New Beginnings

Praise the Lord, it’s the last day of August, AND I have a three day weekend! Not that I’ll be doing much with it–we move later in September, and I am past ready for it! I’m done with the hot weather, I’m ready for afternoon thunderstorms and cups of coffee on the couch with a book and a blanket and my pumpkin candle lit. I’ve always felt like this time of year was more of a new year, not January. It’s probably because of school starting in the fall. My favorite holidays are coming up, chiefly Halloween. Thanksgiving and Christmas are nice, but Halloween is my favorite.

I’m really excited for our new home. We get the keys in 16 days, and it’s just dragging to get there. We’ll be back in the neighborhood we love, I’ll be less than five minutes from my office (theoretically, I could walk there!), we’ll have a home office, the cat will have more room to run around, and the desk with computer monitors won’t be in our bedroom! We’ll also have an actual table to sit and eat at and I can sew, we’ll be right on a walking trail, and we’ll be really close to a lake with a park. There’s SEVEN grocery stores close to us!

This is a fresh start for us, and I’m really happy about it. We were hopeful we would like where we live now, and we do, but things aren’t as great as they could be. If we could take our apartment and transport it to this neighborhood, and add room for an office at least, I would probably live here forever. Well, ok, not forever, but a very long time.

But, I’ve made it clear that this is the last apartment I’m living in. I’m tired of moving every lease or two expiring. I’m tired of having people all around me and possibly hearing our conversations. Will is a heavy walker, so I’m sure our neighbors below us hate us.

We really want a house of our own. This apartment is going to be a great start to us getting ready for that. We’re probably not going to buy a house in the neighborhood where we’re going to live now, but we’ll probably be close. Will is almost done with his degree, so he’ll probably find a new job soon after.

This apartment will be a home of new beginnings, and we can’t wait.
