The Three Women

For today’s post, I’m sharing a poem I wrote. This year is hard and scary. Easter won’t be the same. I’ve been thinking of the three women who went to the tomb a lot lately. May we all strive to find good news and hope in all the bad and fear, no matter our background. Happy Easter.

Three quiet women,
mourning and fearful
tread the path to the garden.

They tread it before dawn.
There was no hope.
They went to do what was needed.

And what if they hadn’t?
What if, as the sun rose,
They didn’t hear that joyful news?

That news that love had won,
that death was no more,
that the darkness wouldn’t come again?

But they went
not knowing,
quietly, fearfully, lovingly.

And because of three women,
we wait hopefully, knowing,
it’s always darkest before dawn.
